We realize that planning a wedding can often seem overwhelming. Which venue is right? Can we afford a great photographer? (Yes, you can...look at our prices!) Do we want video? What about flowers? Who makes a great cake? Our guests have to eat...what do we feed them? Aren't all DJ's the same? Who marries us?
In our own personal lives, Elena and I know that recommendations from people we know and trust are tremendously helpful in guiding us towards good decisions. In the spirit of helping you plan the perfect wedding, we would like to provide you with a list of a few vendors we have worked with over the years that we feel like are great additions to any wedding.
Venue
Texas Old Town
Without a doubt, our favorite venue is Texas Old Town in Kyle, Texas. This venue offers four different halls, each with it's own distinct character. Texas Old Town is rustic and charming without being rundown and old. The buildings and grounds are all immaculate and the staff is very helpful. Whether you want a Texas-style, boots-under-your-dress wedding or an elegant, formal event, Texas Old Town is a perfect choice of venue. Visit their website for more information: www.texasoldtown.com. The manager, Martha Boltz, will be happy to help you!
Cake
Simon Lee Bakery
I don't know if I can call myself an 'expert' when it comes to wedding cake, but I can guarantee you that I've had lots and lots and lots of cake. In fact, I have had wedding cake at every single wedding we've ever taken pictures of. Some were good. Some...well...weren't. One was great! The cake at Gabriel and Maxine's wedding (at Texas Old Town, by the way) was made by Simon Lee Bakery. I thought I had died and gone to cake heaven! The cake was so... And, the icing was like... And, the cream in the middle was... WOW! It was cake perfection!
Have you ever seen the movie Ratatouille? You know the part when Remy bites into the cheese and then bites into the strawberry? Then he bites into them at the same time and sees stars and fireworks? That's a Simon Lee cake. Simon Lee Bakery's website is www.simonleebakery.com.
Caterer
Werner's
A great meal completes the festivities at a wedding. The winning trifecta in a wedding is a great DJ, super cake, and delicious dinner (getting great pictures is just a given...with Smith Photography, of course). Werner's served up some of the best bar-b-que we have ever had. Their brisket was juicy and tender. The sausage had just enough spice. The salad was fresh and crisp. The sides were yummy. Treat yourselves and your guests to a fantastic meal with Werner's catering services!
Contact Werner's to schedule your catering. Your guests (and your photographers) will be very happy! Their website is www.wernerssteakhouse.com.
Officiant
"I Do" Ceremonies
One important part of the day that is often not discussed is the officiant. Who's going to marry you? Stephen Simmons did an excellent job with our clients. He was courteous, flexible, and friendly. His ceremony was the perfect length and everything went very smoothly. Contact Stephen at idoceremonies.org.
