Margaret and Philip's Wedding Celebration in Austin, TX

What an awesome and unique experience Margaret and Philip's wedding was!  We met Margaret for the first time just a few days before her wedding.  She came to our home and we had such a wonderful time visiting with her.  One of the first things Margaret told us was that her and Philip's wedding was going to be a bit different.  "That's alright," Elena and I said.  "We like different."  Well, we had no idea how different Margaret's wedding was going to be.  They did their best to avoid any of the standard wedding stuff and, instead, wanted to have a celebration that really represented who they are.  It was perfect!  Well done!

We began with Margaret and Philip's rehearsal dinner at Eden East on Springdale Road in East Austin.  This was such a cool and innovative place.  Eden East is a small outdoor restaurant nestled next to an urban farm in East Austin called Springdale Farm.  Before guests arrived, Elena and I had the chance to walk around the farm.  It was a bit surreal to be on a farm in the middle of Austin.  There were rows and rows of vegetables and herbs.  There were ducks and chickens.  Everything was clean and well taken care of.  It was really a neat place.  The really cool thing (in our opinion) about Eden East is that it is truly a farm to table dining experience.  Everything served comes directly from Springdale Farms or a handful of other local farmers.

Margaret and Philip's rehearsal dinner was a very intimate evening of family and very close friends.  This was the first rehearsal dinner that Elena and I had ever photographed and it was so neat to be a part of this event.  Margaret and Philip spent the evening laughing and talking with those closest to them.  Everyone enjoyed a wonderful dinner and one of the coolest bar setups we have ever seen.  At the end of the evening, Philip and Margaret took a minute to thank everyone.  He said two things that I really liked.  First, he reminded everyone that the weekend was a marathon not a sprint.  (There were, in fact, two more days of activities.)  Second, he said that he and Margaret had a saying they lived by.  "It's not where you are.  It's who you're with."  What a perfect way to end the evening!

Two days later was Margaret and Philip's wedding party.  And, what a party it was!!!  Held at The Belmont in downtown Austin, Margaret and Philip treated their guests to a really, really awesome celebration!  There was tons of food and so many neat things for the guests to enjoy.  The Original Butt Sketch artists were on hand to draw the backsides of Margaret and Philip's guests.  These guys were so, so cool.  Elena and I couldn't resist getting ourselves drawn.  There was also a poetess on hand.  Guests answered a few questions for the poetess and she wrote them a poem on the spot.  She was so cute!  She had a little table with a little lamp and her typewriter (if you haven't seen one of those, you can Google it).  It was such a neat addition to the evening.  But, no party is complete without music.  And, boy was there music!  Margaret and Philip had two bands for the evening.  The Belmont is such a cool venue and the outdoor stage area was just perfect for Margaret and Philip's party.  Both of the bands were great!  People danced all night long.

Margaret and Philip, your wedding celebration was so much fun!!!  Thank you so much for including Elena and I.  We are so excited for the two of you and wish you both the very, very best!  Congratulations again!
