There is not a serious moment to be had when you are with Heidi and John. And, that is what we love so much about them! So many people take themselves so seriously today. Heidi and John are so relaxed and love having fun, especially with each other. Elena and I are so glad that we had the opportunity to spend the day with Heidi and John and be reminded that fun and laughter are the best medicine.
We met Heidi at a great little spa not too far from their venue. It was such a great idea for all of the girls to have a spa date before the wedding. Every girl needs a little pampering on their wedding day. Once they were done there, everyone made their way over to Kindred Oaks. John and the guys showed up a bit later. John looked sharp in his uniform and we were excited that we had the chance to do first look pictures with Heidi and John.
The ceremony was beautiful! This wedding was a first for us. We have never shot a wedding before with a saber arch at the end of the wedding. It was so cool to see the guys in uniform holding their sabers over the newlyweds as they left the ceremony site. Before they were allowed to leave, each pair of sabers would lower in front of Heidi and John and request a kiss (knowing Heidi's fondness for kissing made this very, very funny). After their final kiss, the last two sabers whacked them on the backside. It was a fun addition their wedding day!
After the ceremony, we took some family pictures and then the party started. It was a fun evening for all. I was a bit bummed when I heard there wasn't going to be a cake...until I heard that there was an alternative form of dessert. An ice cream truck showed up!!! Nothing tastes better on a hot, hot August evening than cold ice cream.
Heidi and John, thank you so much for letting us have fun with you on your wedding day. John, thank you for making a turtle pee during your engagement session. Heidi, thank you for being so quick to laugh at John when he made the turtle pee. You both reminded Elena and I how much fun our job really is! Congratulations, again!
