This wedding was one of the rare occasions where we had not met with the bride and groom in person before the wedding. Living out of town, Tara and Greg planned everything long distance...and did a fantastic job! The venue was a posh west Austin mansion that they rented for the entire weekend. What a great idea!!!! There was plenty of room for Tara and Greg and their friends and family and everyone just spent the weekend together in the mansion. As soon as we arrived, we met Tara and Greg and their friends and family. We immediately felt right at home!
Tara and Greg decided to do a first look (YEAH!!!!). I can't think of anything better than a first look on a second story balcony overlooking the hills of Austin and the river. It was just great! The ceremony was inside the mansion in a really cool room with columns, a high vaulted ceiling, and more great hill country views out the windows. Tara's daughters, Samantha and Alayna, were just the cutest flower girls. Doing lots of weddings, Elena and I see many touching moments. I am used to the emotion and don't really think about it because I'm busy taking pictures. I couldn't help but get emotional during Tara and Greg's ceremony. When Greg kneeled down and presented Samantha and Alayna with a gift and told them how much he loved them, there wasn't a dry eye in the room. It was such a touching moment.
The rest of the evening was filled with family fun on the outside dance floor by the swimming pool. Austin Classic DJ, our new in-house DJ company, made its first appearance. David, our DJ, did a fantastic job and we are so thankful to Tara and Greg for giving us our first opportunity. As we were packing up to leave for the evening, Tara and Greg's families packed HUGE bags of food for us to take home. We were forced to take Franklin's BBQ home!!! Oh...and several pieces of cake.
When we left, Tara and Greg were sitting in the hot tub with several of their friends enjoying the beautiful Central Texas night. Isn't that the way every wedding should end? It was fantastic!
