When we saw the sign on the deserted road that said "Private Road Ahead, Plant Entrance" we began to wonder exactly where Brandee and John had invited us. But, as we followed our GPS (which we had begun to question) to our final destination, we found one of the coolest wedding venues we have seen in a long time, the Tin Star Ranch. There were multiple guest cabins in the front part of the ranch. But, the most interesting part was in the back part of the ranch. There was a whole little western town complete with a facade of the Alamo and a really great dancehall where Brandee and John had their reception. It was a really cool place!
We found Brandee and her bridesmaids getting ready in the cabins. We found John and his groomsmen in the western town...which is also a shooting range! John and the guys were shooting steel targets when we showed up. If you haven't ever shot steel, you're missing out! I even got to take a turn shooting! That was a definite first at a wedding...but, hopefully, not the last time I'll get to do that. Brandee fed Elena and I a really tasty lunch and then we had plenty of time to take bride/bridesmaids and groom/groomsmen pictures.
Brandee and John's ceremony was outside under a huge group of old live oak trees with fantastic hill country views. It was really great to have a beautiful ceremony with a breath-taking backdrop. After the ceremony, Brandee and John gave us lots of time to take pictures. And, we had a great time with them! The only thing that disturbed our shoot was the huge T-Rex that came storming through the ranch!!! Luckily, I got a few pictures before he wandered back off into the hills. Elena and I were so pleased with the pictures we took after the ceremony. We were even happier when Brandee and John agreed to spend a few more minutes with us later in the evening taking pictures in front of the Alamo. The reception was a great celebration with friends and family dancing to great live music. Brandee's sister make a huge (and very, very good) cake. It was beautiful. And, her mom and dad worked so hard to make Brandee and John's wedding day special. I'm not sure there was a single time in the day when I looked at them and they weren't working.
Brandee and John, we had such a wonderful day with you. Thank you for being so gracious and feeding us (twice) and being so willing to take every picture we requested. Elena and I are so happy for your both and wish you both many, many years of happiness!
