Winter weddings in Austin are great because it isn't 110 degrees outside. HOWEVER...it isn't supposed to be 28 degrees with ice, either! Luckily, Krista and Chuck had decided some time back to have the wedding inside so there was no need to change plans. One of the great things that Texas Old Town offers that you can't get at other venues is the ability have your entire event inside a beautiful hall if the weather decides not to cooperate.
Krista and Chuck worked so hard to make everything perfect for their wedding. When we arrived, Krista was hard at work putting together flower arrangements and Chuck was making sure all the decorations were just right. We did have a super interesting first at this wedding. The wedding cake was on a swing! The poor cake guy! He brought the cake in (and it was a beautiful cake) and had no idea that it was going on the swing. When he found out, I think he went a bit pale. Some of the guys helped him put it up on the swing, he took a few pictures with his camera, and then turned to me and said with a smile, "I'm getting out of here before anything bad happens to that cake!" The cake on the swing was really cool and we enjoyed taking pictures of it...and eating it! It was really yummy!
The ceremony and reception were just great! We were so thankful to get some great pictures of Chuck and Krista outside because they were both willing to brave the cold for a few minutes. We took lots of family pictures that we are sure will be cherished for many years to come. It was so nice to be able to be a part of such a special day for Krista and Chuck. And, to make the wedding day even better, it was Chuck's birthday! He turned...well, Chuck got older. And, Chuck got the best birthday present a man could ask for!
