The venue was almost ready. The decorations were in their final stages. The groom and groomsmen were working hard to get everything finished. It was about time to set up the chairs outside for the ceremony. The bride and bridesmaids showed up at the venue. And...it rained. It rained hard. This wasn't one of those fast moving thunderstorms that blows over in five minutes. It kept raining. Brooklynn's mom swore that there was something about us and Brooklynn getting together that made it rain. Her bridal shoot in Austin (some of you might remember the blog posting) involved even more rain than her wedding day.
Finally, there was a break in the clouds and the rain stopped. Unfortunately, the ground was too wet and muddy to have the wedding outside like planned. Plans had to be changed and the wedding was moved inside the venue. This is where one of Brooklynn's most endearing traits really showed itself. Some bride's would have been disappointed or upset that nature had foiled the master plan of their wedding. Not Brooklynn! She was so calm and positive and happy. Moving the wedding inside didn't seem to phase her one bit. Mark and the groomsmen set everything up inside and the wedding went perfectly.
Brooklynn and Mark did a first look (one of our most favorite things in weddings). It is always such a cool moment the first time the groom sees the bride. We never know what reaction the groom is going to have, but we always know if will be special. Plus, the first look gave us time before the wedding, when everyone is still looking their best, to have a few minutes with Brooklynn and Mark for a mini photo session. We realize that it is so important for the bride and groom to get these pictures. We love having a little bit of time before the ceremony with just the four of us to get some really great pictures. And, of course, getting really great pictures of Brooklynn and Mark was pretty easy!
And, talk about a grand entrance. To avoid getting Brooklynn's dress and shoes dirty (as well as the rest of the bridal party), everyone got into a trailer and rode the short distance to the venue. The trailer backed up to the venue, the door on the trailer was lower, and the bridal party came out. It was great! The rest of the evening was just a wonderful celebration with friends and family...exactly what a great wedding should be!
Brooklynn and Mark, we hope that you never lose your ability to relax, laugh, and grow together when life brings rain. Congratulations again on your wedding! Elena and I wish you a lifetime of happiness and joy!
