I had been watching the weather all week...to see how much I was going to sweat over the weekend. All week, the weather showed that it would be hot and dry. We had Brooklynn's bridal session on Friday, a wedding on Saturday and a wedding on Sunday. I fully intended on losing at least five pounds over the weekend just from being outside in the heat. When Elena and I woke up Friday morning, she looked outside and said, "I don't like these clouds." I assured her that there was nothing to worry about and that the sun would burn them away shortly. I was even so confident that I opened up the weather on the Internet to prove the validity of my position. There was only one problem. The weather that had been predicted all week was suddenly wrong and there was an enormous storm moving right towards us!
Brooklynn and her mom, Kim, drove down from Dallas for her bridal session. She had chosen the Zilker Botanical Gardens as the location for her shoot. Unfortunately, higher powers had different plans. We called Kim several times throughout the day to ensure her that we would find somewhere to take pictures, even if it wasn't the botanical gardens. As they got closer to Austin, we decided on the UT Tower. I called the Tower and spoke with the building manager about taking Brooklynn's bridal pictures there. She was super nice and very accommodating and helped me through the process of arranging last minute pictures there. We were able to spend a few minutes inside the Tower taking some pictures. The remainder of the time, we were in front of the Tower with Brooklynn staying dry and Elena and I sharing an umbrella under the rain trying to get just the pictures we wanted.
And we did!!!! Brooklynn's pictures are just gorgeous! She and Kim were so much fun. The rain and traffic that they had to go through to get to their shoot didn't dampen their spirits one bit. They laughed and joked the whole time. It made the entire shoot so relaxed! What was even better was their attitude about the dress. We realize that brides want their dress to look nice on their wedding day and want to be careful with the dress. During bridal shoots we try to be as careful as possible, too. But...it's a white dress...in a very dirty world. I said something about trying to not get Brooklynn's dress dirty and they both said, "Don't worry about it! We can get it cleaned. We just want beautiful pictures!" Man, that made our job so much easier.
We can't wait to travel to Dallas for Brooklynn's wedding! I'm sure it's going to be a great time!
