When Elena and I arrived at Texas Old Town (one of our favorite venues, www.texasoldtown.com), Gabriel and Maxine were the first two people we saw. In fact, they were the only two people we saw. Both of them were hard at work making sure that all the details for their wedding were just right. And, they did a fantastic job! The reception hall looked great! Many of the decorations were from land that Maxine's family owns. There were all kinds of cool jars and farm tools...and dynamite boxes!!! It was really cool to see all that stuff, but it was even cooler to see how Maxine and Gabriel had managed to infuse their family history into the wedding.
It was such a great evening of celebration. Both families were so nice and made it such a fun and relaxed evening for Elena and I. As many of you know, I try the cake at every wedding. You might say I'm a bit addicted. Maxine's cake was beautiful and Gabriel's was probably the most creative I have ever seen. However, after their cakes were ordered, Maxine found out that she had to have gluten-free cakes. So, they had to order gluten-free cake balls. Well, the only thing I can think of that is better than a wedding with cake is a wedding with cake AND cake balls. And, just for the record, the wedding cakes were absolutely, without a doubt the best wedding cake I have ever eaten. Simon Lee Bakery (www.simonleebakery.com) did a fantastic job!
Maxine and Gabriel, thank you for sharing your cake with us! And, even more importantly, thank you for sharing yourselves and your families with us for the evening! We had a wonderful time and we are so happy for both of you. Congratulations again!
