C O L D!!! That might be the first word that comes to mind when we think about Janis and Julian's wedding. But, W A R M is the feeling we left with at the end of the night! This wedding was such a great celebration with friends and family that the cold weather didn't seem to bother anybody. Okay, I take that back. The wedding party went outside to take a few pictures and we were all afraid we were going to get hypothermia. Other than the photographer forcing people to go stand in the cold for pictures, the cold weather didn't bother anybody!
Janis was just a bit late showing up at the church. But, considering that it is her day, we figure she can show up any time she wants! I was waiting outside in the cold for the limo to arrive. When I saw Janis step out of the limo, I knew that Julian wouldn't mind the wait. She was beautiful!!! She ran inside the church and got right in line for the processional. The mass was beautiful and Janis and Julian even stood up to the pressure of an unexpected pastoral quiz about what the different symbols in the wedding mean (Janis, I thought the white dress stood for purity, too). After the mass, we took family pictures and then made our way to the reception venue.
Kindred Oaks is a beautiful venue! The staff was all super friendly and the photo opportunities are great. (Unfortunately, we didn't get to take advantage of as many of them as we would have liked due to the weather.) Janis and Julian's first dance was awesome! It is so moving to see a couple cry together because they are so happy to be married! While Elena and I were eating dinner in a back room, I heard words that would change the evening forever. Simon Lee!!! Janis and Julian immediately became one of my favorite couples of all time. They had a Simon Lee cake!!!! Oh, and it was so, so good!
Janis and Julian, we had a wonderful time at your wedding and are so thankful that you chose Smith Photography to be a part of your day! We knew after spending a few hours with you at your engagement session that your wedding would be wonderful. And, we were right. Thank you for turning such a cold, winter day into such a warm, joyous occasion! We wish you both many, many years of happiness together!
